London Isoc is an organisation which was setup in 2000. The brothers who were at university at the time felt that dawah at universities had reached a stage where its next logical evolutionary step was to form an organisation which co-ordinated this dawah, hence the birth of London Isoc.
Since the year 2000, London Isoc's modus operandi has been to formulate different projects which will assist the London Islamic Societies in their dawah. The projects were then allocated to individual universities and their members. It was found however that Islamic Societies had too much of their own work to cope with and were not able to fully devote the time to additional London Isoc projects. It was at that point that the current working methodology of London Isoc was agreed.
The projects which are formulated by London Isoc are executed by a team which is dedicated to the project. The vast majority of members of the team have many years experience in University Isocs and so are a formidable asset to it. University Isocs were previously suppliers and beneficiaries of the fruits of London Isoc projects but under the new system are solely beneficiaries.
What is important to note however, is that despite the dichotomy of London Isoc's methodology with regards to the separation between the suppliers and beneficiaries, London Isoc has always maintained that it is important to know what the target market wants and feels. To that end, constant contact has been maintained with at least 16 universities as well as meeting with Isoc Presidents twice a year.
Our particular focus is University Students. The rationale behind this is, that before students come to university, they are told what to do, what to think, how to behave, where to go, where not to go by their parents and so have done very little active thinking of their own. When they finally arrive at University, they are overwhelmed by the plethora of thoughts, people and ideologies present. This is the time when the mind is the most fertile and this is the time when Islam can take root. The lslamic Societies in Universities have a mountainous task and an even greater responsibility. We have taken it upon ourselves to aid and assist the university Islamic socieities in this noble endeavour, to ensure that Allaah's Word is the Highest.
We are a non-profit organisation and all of the funds that we collect are put directly back into the organisation. All of the members of London Isoc are volunteers. There are no paid staff for London Isoc at the moment.
As an Islamic organisation, we understand the importance of referring to the Scholars and the people of knowledge. As a result, we are in constant contact with the scholars and the people of knowledge in the United Kingdom with regards to our activities and our methodology in taking the dawah forward in London.
We ask Allaah (swt) to make London Isoc a beneficial organisation, which works for His Face alone. Aameen.
